Here are some pictures of Tango and related things in San Antonio (and a few other places) over the years.
They are ordered more-or-less in chronological order, from most recent to oldest. Some have a
short introductory text, which is normally hidden but which can be viewed by clicking twice
on the link that says "show/hide intro". You'll have to click twice the first time: after that
it takes only one click to hide and show it alternately.

WIP with Carlos (March 2006)
show/hide intro
Carlos took part in the original WIP ("Wednesdays in Performance", or "Works in Progress": a series of performances
held at Jump Start Performance Co.). His selection of a hip-hop piece for the music inspired
the group to explore other modes of dancing the Tango. They went on to perform at the
"WIP Creme", which is a "Best of WIP", this time without Carlos, for that year and the next.
Here are photos from the first performance, the one that started it all.

Plaza Tango (June 4, 2005)
show/hide intro
One of the local Tangueros, Steve Brown, had noticed that nights there was a lot of activity around the central plaza, or zocalo, of Mexican towns and cities,
and thought it would be a good idea to dance some Tango in San Antonio's own plaza, in front of the Cathedral. He had tried something like this before and encountered police
attention. Evidently it is not permitted to use the plaza in such a manner, without first contracting it and paying a sum. Since this had not been done for this occasion,
the proceedings were carried out under the vague threat that there might be intervention from law enforcement agents, and possible action taken against the participants.
Nevertheless, a few brave people dared to help Steve live out his fantasy before he left San Antonio to find a new home in Vancouver, Canada. The results are documented here.

Semeneya Performance by Frank & Kathy, Fiesta 2004
show/hide intro
In 2004 Kathleen Roberston got a job teaching Argentine Tango for Semeneya: at that time they
were trying to diversify and had expanded their studio space over at Harry Wurzbach and Rittiman Rd.
I helped her out. They put on a demo at El Mercado that Fiesta, in which all the instructors
took part. Here are some photos from our demo. The music was Pugliese's "Pata Ancha": I'm sure
you can tell that from the photos.
